I have started to work on installing the competition werkes fender eliminator kit, but the instructions just plain SUCK !!! I have search on the boards here and on other sites to find some help but havent found anything to help me out. my main concern is WHERE IN THE HELL DO I CUT >?!>? I have already used my dremel to cut along the sides but i dont think it made it through all the way. Should i use an angle grinder with cut off wheel? or hack saw? also it says to cut across bottom 1/4" in front of tabs. What tabs? and in front of meaning which way ? 1/4" toward the front of the bike or 1/4" toward the tail of the bike?!?! I really need some pix of this kit already installed on the bike so i can see, If anyone has any or can take any pix of where exactly i need to cut along the bottom and sides etc. i would GREATLY appreciate it!!! I would like to get this done ASAP but i dont want to rush and hack it all up. thanks for any/all help!!!

now if you click on the link above you can see where i have already began cutting, now am i supposed to go all the way thru to the other side or just thru that first layer? my dremel only made it thru the first layer.

ok now for this pic, whats circled in yellow is where the cut on the outter edge ends now am i supposed to follow that down on the angle like on the out terside edge (along the yellow line i drew) ???

And when it says to cut 1/4" in front of the tab, im assuming it means the tab between the blue and pink lines ??now which line do i cut the blue one or the pink one?!?!?

now am i even close at all with what i think im supposed to do or am I way off?!?!

dude, OK, I'll try to explain,,,,, I have an 01 so not sure if the same,, but... There is two bolt facing outward that holds the old plastic undertail on, under the back seat area,, you want to cut down the side of that and circle under the plastic before the battery box, com back to the other side, cutting the entire back half of the plastic off,,, leaving only the battery box and two arms going to the place where it originally bolted up,, hard to explain,,,, And I have a 01 so it could be totallydifferent!! I'll post a picture in a min. I have to go take one so you can see if its different

Youve pretty much got the right idea. I believe those are the correct tabs indicated in the instructions as you have labeled in your pictures. I also have an 01, but it looks about the same. What I did was cut about 1" behind the stock blinkers, to get rid of them. Mine fit perfectly by doing that. What you should do is cut behind your blinkers and then put it back on and see if it fits. One of the mistakes I made when I was putting my undertail on was that I thought I needed to cut or get rid of like all of the plastic, but it actually doesnt amount to much more than the license plate bracket and the stock blinkers. PM me if you need some more help, I can try to explain it better.

It is a good manula...the wiring instructions it gives didnt say what to do with the extra wire that was on ewach tail light bulb or the 2 wires for the tag light so I taped them up and did the rest like the instructions say and everything works......my signals flash fast now...I forget what everyone does to fix them...do I just put a different kind of flasher in or what? Not trying to steal your thread here but it might help you out also

The only way to make them flash slower is to either add resistors or buy a module that manually slows them down (through resistors;)). I wouldnt worry about it though, you'll get used to the fast flashing and grow to like it:D

Im not putting on a whole undertail, only the fender eliminator that relocates the license plate turn signals, light and trunk key hole.

Oh my bad I guess I didn't pay too much attention to the title.......looking at your pics where your cutting and all though it looks like you would cut it in the same place as if you were installing a whole undertail

ok well, i finally got it all figured out and put back together, looks freakin awsome!!I double checked everything b4 putting it all back together, get it all on put the seat on, go to see if the lock still works, IT WONT UNLOCK THE SEAT !!!! now the only real prob i have with this is, my registration is under my seat !!! and i need to take the seat off to do some more work i have planned in the near future.

Any ideas on how i can get my seat off since the lock cylinder wont open it up?!?!?!

I don't know how yours works with the nana seat......but on mine you would just have to take the front seat off...try to fish some needle nose pliers-coat hanger somthing up in there to pull the release...I made sure mine worked before I put it back on because I didnt want that to happen, my problem was my lock cylinder even though it had the little slot coming off the side still turned in my undertail...so I got it where I wanted it to stay where it worked the best and I JB Welded the lock cylinder/holder to the undertail ....will be a B*&ch if I ever want to change it but I will worry about that then

I'm planning on getting the same kit for my bike. Lemme know when you figure out how to get the seat opened. If it's too much of a hassle with the installation, then the heck with it. I'll just keep the stock rear fender on, even if it looks gawdy (maybe just saw off the bottom if I get the guts to do it).
