View Full Version : I think I bought something dumb
ChanCBR 03-10-2007, 03:10 AM I just got my '01 F4i two weeks ago and I have been shopping for frame sliders. I was most interested in the Diamond Powersports because of their prices. While shopping of course I found some real gay light up red ones (my bike is the White and Red), and out of their online store they cost 130, which is way too much for sliders. But while I was on E-bay I ran across the same ones for 25 dollars shipping included. I couldn't pass it up.
Now my question is: 1. How gay are these? 2. Should I wire them to my blinkers, tail lights, break lights or electric toaster?
If it is a group agreement that they are gay and should be burned I wont put them on but I will sell em. I want to give em a chance.
Tell me what u think.
thunder31634 03-10-2007, 03:16 AM too me, anything that makes your bike more visible at night is a good thing
jimd2p 03-10-2007, 03:16 AM Gay.
Also, I have found it is best to see what the sliders are made of. If they are too hard (like those will be) they tend to cause the bike to flip and tumble.
Oh yeah, just another vote for gay.
I would go black or red sliders. Check out the Vortex ones.
ddaren 03-10-2007, 03:24 AM honestly... i think it's gay. it looks ricey. you might as well put the led washers from a car shop and put those all over you bike. lol.
but yeah... like i tell most ppl... be very careful on how you use lights and carbon fiber. too much... and it looks very ricey.
with those light up sliders... you could probably pick up 16 year old girls... u gotta get better stuff to move up to the 18 and up.
ChanCBR 03-10-2007, 03:36 AM rofl. Yea they are red without the lights also, so I am thinking I will just not plug em in. They should look fine as long as I dont wire em.
c.love220 03-10-2007, 10:37 PM I just put on a set of Vortex. Can't go wrong with those. The install was simple.
kup125 03-10-2007, 10:43 PM gay and ricey
voodoochyl 03-10-2007, 11:08 PM I think Vortex is the ONLY way to go! Ultimately the idea is to spare you plastic and many othermanufacturers are just plain inferior!
kodiak1122 03-10-2007, 11:36 PM Gay-
Kind of like showing off pretty lights inside a computer.

What I think:
1) Those 2 questions says you're not sure yourself
2) I do it, but only if it matches the theme of the bike (ie. lightbright, Circus Circus light show, etc)
3) Choose the color carefully (Ooops already got red....the international symbol for STOP)
4) You SHOULD strive to be different. The bike isn't really yours until you customize it.
ampfp 03-11-2007, 04:28 AM red light's legal as long as it points backward.
blue and green are reserved for fire/police - you can get pulled over
amber/yellow pointing forward is ok...
of course the sliders are sideways, but still no blue/green.
alekinci 03-11-2007, 06:02 AM I would rock those "flame" sliders as turning signals..........man if i could, i would put fog light on my bike.
BadAzF4i 03-11-2007, 06:18 AM i would say no if it were my bike cause it could look ricey, but if u like them its ur bike and u should make it look how u like it not how everyone else likes it, just my opinion
pochop7 03-11-2007, 12:45 PM Personally I don't like the light up ones, but wire them up if you like them..rock them, it's your bike who cares what everyone else thinks
christhek 03-11-2007, 03:45 PM You must have thought they were cool enough to buy them...now just put them on and tell everyone who doesn't like it to mod their way and you'll mod your way. Gay or not, it's yours to do what you want to do. Just watch the colors, as others have pointed out. I would do it to mine.
Just my .02
the greeen lantern 03-11-2007, 05:00 PM ive had these before and dam did i ever hate them and i got mine for free,i pulled them off on the side if the road cause i was gettin compliments from ricer boyz on my "neons"
they made me feel like a chauch i alomst wanted to start wearin a mesh shirt and try and race eveybody for a "g"note
in my opinion dont do it,but its your bike
check out yoyodyne <they make the best sliders out there
or look into gettina set of race rails,if you still want the ground clearence
ChanCBR 03-11-2007, 05:22 PM haha this is great. Yea like I said before they were 40 bucks with shipping so I figured, what the hell if I dont like em I will resell em. I am gona try em out and if they are gay then I will just not wire them up. Easy solution.
moleverine 03-12-2007, 04:37 AM I say, figure out for yourself if you think they are cool or not, instead of asking others. Do you go around asking people if your bike is cool enough for them? If they don't approve of what you ride or what you do to YOUR bike, then tell them they are free to buy you what they DO approve of. And what's all this 'gay' business? Last I checked, inanimate objects have no sexual preference.

You must have owned a Katana. Admit it. You thought it was cool.

Frame sliders are not to protect your fairings, they are to keep damages off the frame of the bike. They only come in handy for fairings if it is a slow speed to a stop fall over
and i vote plug em in to the blinkers
hondaf4i 03-12-2007, 04:46 PM ya my bike came with those red light up ones.. my bike was red and black it looked decent even tho i never used them, now my bike is pearl white so i dont even use them
benvaldi88 03-13-2007, 02:55 AM [sm=signs006.gif] gay, too ricey for a bike
ChanCBR 03-13-2007, 09:33 PM Well thanks for all the help. I just wanted to know how ricy they looked since I have never used em. I installed a pair of vortex instead. And to all the haters like this guy I say, figure out for yourself if you think they are cool or not, instead of asking others. Do you go around asking people if your bike is cool enough for them? If they don't approve of what you ride or what you do to YOUR bike, then tell them they are free to buy you what they DO approve of. And what's all this 'gay' business? Last I checked, inanimate objects have no sexual preference. dude chill out. I have never seen them before and i wanted to know how homosexualy-gay-ass-butt-banging they were. I think topic answered my question.
