I tried searching this site for a "how-to" guide on flushing your coolant. I'm looking to flush the coolant from my '03 CBR600 before I get it ready for the track. What's the easiest/best procedure to follow? I was thinking of disconnecting the lower radiator hose close to the engine to drain most of the coolant, then flushing rest of the old coolant through the top of the radiator with a garden hose. Is this correct or is there a better method? Thanks.

I disconnected the hose from the radiator to the water pump at the water pump and let it drain. Then i just stuck a garden hose (which didn't have any type of fitting for a nozzle so it fit perfectly) into the water pump and turned it on until i didn't see any more green... I tried several ways to do it and this seemed to be the easiest...

I wouldn't use mineral or tap water as it can eventually corrode your system. I've always used distilled on all my bikes ... it's cheap and safer.

Make sure to thank Abad for making an excellent and easy to follow "How-To" Guide

If you're using the Honda (pre mixed) coolant or adding regular coolant (like Prestone or something) to the bike you might not wanna flush it with water

I say that because you won't be able to get all the water back out of the engine and that could throw off you mixture ratio of coolant & water.

I think the guys that worry about flushing it with water (to get all the coolant out)are the guys that are going to the track and just using water (& water wetter)

Looks like a drain/fill multiple times procedure. How often should this be performed?
I've got water/water wetter solution that I had put in bike early this calendar year. Bike sat for almost 3 months during summer. Since the overflow bottle looks pretty good, shouldn't I also expect the system to be pretty clean?

Did the flush today. And what should come out of the cooling system???? Green, sweet-smelling anti-freeze. I shouldn't have to feel like I have to check behind the dealership who did the work AND charged me 0.6 hrs labor ($48).

Iused Abad's procedure from the "other" cbr site and modified a little. I ran the bike between fillings with distilled H^2O and drained until I was satisfied that I got 98%+ of the green stuff out.

I guess I will flush again mid 2008, although its suitable for annual changes.
