View Full Version : Rim stripes on a polished rim?

What do you think? My rear rim is polished, the spokes arent just the outer part. I have the grey/black 01, and everytime i look at it i think to myself, the wheels need something else. the front rim is still black to go with the color scheme, and that would look great with a rim stripe. Now i was thinking either grey or red, the red to match my "i". the grey wont stick out too much on the polished rim but the red would.

Has anyone ever seen rim stripes on a polished rim? if so how did they look? Pics?

would it look stupid? I now wish i hadnt polished the rim, because the rim stripes are so fvcking cool lookin.

Thanks ---x-x--(o)--x-x---

haven't seen any rim stripes on a polished rim.... honestly don't think it would look good on a polished rim. Polished rim is usually what ppl want instead of rim stripes because it doesn't look so cheap.

not sure if i read right... but did you say your front rim is still black and the rear is polished? I would make the front polished also because if I were to see your bike... i would think you used to have both polished... had damage on the front rim.. and couldn't afford to polish another one. it's like a car with 3 chrome rims, and the 4th is a dirty black spare.

I dunno, just my thoughts.

Your right i thought about it and ive decided to just polish the front also. I tested it by painting some masking tape and throwin it on real quick and it sucked.

I have it on mine and it looks okay imo. Mines the precurved silver reflective one that's silver in daylight and bright white when light hits it so it's pretty subdued .. so I dunno about red. I had some decent pics but I can't find them right now. Here's a crappy pic though without the flash (so the reflectiveness is not shown on this pic) .. if u do it, def. do both wheels not one.

Actually, the opposite is true. Polished rims are what some people consider cheap looking on a modern sport bike. Rimtape done properly, and with the right color is not cheap looking at all.

I bought wheel stripes for my bike but can't decide if I want to put them on or polish the wheel lips instead. The bike is red & black, nothing else is polished or shiney minus the exhaust so not sure.

How long did it take you to polish your rims, was it easy, what paint stripper did you use or would any work, and finally was it worth the time and effort?

Go with the rim stripes, get the precurved ones of off ebay, they take 30 minutes to put them on. If you don't like it, you have only pissed away $20 and they'll peel right off. I got them on mine and I like them. I got the thin ones (I think TheX had the wider ones), the thinner ones would allow some of the polish to show through.

Post pics when you are done.

Is it just me, or does it look like that chain needs some help.

What kind of help? If your referring to the color, that's the natural color.
