Hey guys, I was out riding around the other day and later found that a very small piece of glass has cut into the rear tire. Needless to say, the tire is now totally flat:(. Will it be ok to just patch it up and not worry about it anymore, or should I actually go and buy a new rear tire? I really don't want to have to spend $200+ because of a stupid piece of glass, but if I'll be better off and safer, I guess I'm willing to. Thanks for any input.

New tire is the best way to blow. A car is ok to patch because it has FOUR tires so if one blows you're chances of correcting and not crashing are WAY higher then on a bike. You could use that green goop ****, but I wouldn't trust it like a new tire.

I wouldnt do it, but I know some have and rode on it for a few hundred miles. Its up to you, but personally, I wouldnt.

whats more expensive $200 for a new tire or peace of mind knowing you have a good tire.

My well being I think is worth a lot more than 200... I think someone had the same problem so they just used it for a burn-out vid (not that I am reccomending that)

i think it would depend on the size and shape of the hole... i had a mushroom plug in the rear tire of my f4i, took it up to 130, never had problems

There is a post on ebay for a brand new front and rear tire for 169.99. If you have a 06 600 rr like me

All that tells you is that no one wants to assume the liability issues if the patch/plug fails.

I plug tires all the time and ride them until they are done, but it's your call on this one.

Not 1 dealer in town patches tires (they refuse to). So, I just ordered me a new one from BikeBandit.com for $125.99 (Dunlop Qualifier). Though, I think it's back up to $180.

But definately go with a new tire, everyone I talked to said the risk outweights the benefit.

Whats worse 200 bucks for a new tire. Or eating pavement at 130!?!? Dude www.Motorcyclesuperstore.com (http://www.Motorcyclesuperstore.com) they have free shipping on tire's right now. Take it to your local bike shop they mount for cheap ( plus you don't have to do the work if you dont' want)

I work at a tire shop and there is no way I would ever plug a tire. Plug pull out all the time as the tire wears. If it was directly in the middle of the tread I may patch it, but I monitor that mofo like crazy. On a front tire I would never even question putting a new tire on.
