Alright, so I was wiring up some flush mount blinkers I bought and accidently touched both the wires togather after I cut the wire harness. Forgot to turn the pwr off, btw(idiot). So anyway it blew my fuse. I got another fuse and proceded to install and wire both blinkers, now only the right blinker will blink, both blinkers light up but the right blinker is the only one that will blink. Might I have burnt out the blinker relay? as the two wires I touched togather were for the left blinker when I blew the fuse. I also wired them wrong becasue it melted both of my flushmount blinkers, they would get to hot to touch only after a couple of minutes. I know you are supposed to wire hot to hot and ground/neutral to ground/neutral. How do I know which wires are power and which are ground. I looked at the harnesses and each have one color wire the same, I suppose these same color wires are power and the other one is the ground? Any help will be much apprreciated.

jason.

How about some more details...pictures would be nice. What kind of flushmounts, do they have two or three wires...the stock harness should have three. What year bike do you have. And the best way to check for power would be a multimeter, can get a cheap one at sears, radioshack, etc. Give me some more to work with and i'll help you find the problem.

Sounds like you were trying to install a 2 wire signal on a 3 wire set up and got the wires crossed

Go to Radio Shack or any auto parts store and get a tester. It looks like a screw driver with a point at the tip and there is a light in the handle and a wire will come out of the handle with an alligator clip. Ground the clip and you could touch the point to the live wires and find out where each one go, safely. It should cost under $10 for a tester.
