I got my 1995 CBR600F3 last summer. I live in Peoria IL so it is ass cold here right now. When the spring and summer roll around I would really like to hit the track......as much as I can.

so, I am looking for tracks that do trackdays in the midwest. Perferably in Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, or Indiana. I am also concerned a little with price so that I can go as often as I can afford.

In input to any tracks in this area would be great.

Thanks.

I just joined Sportbike Track Time ($35) and they have two dates at Putnam (which is just outside of Indianapolis) and the fee is $155 for one day and $295 for two days...

they have other track locations in your area and prices for each listed on their website...

Nothing more to say other than these guys rock. No Session track days? You cant beat it with a VERY large stick. Go to one of their track days at BlackHawk Farm and enjoy.

In the Midwest, Your best bets are:

Track Day orgs: Nesba & Sportbike Track Time
And you tracks are going to be: Road America, Blackhawk farms, Autobann Country Club, Putman, Gatway, Gingerman, and Gratten.

Pick up a copy of Road Racing World, They publish a updated list of track day orgs in the back each month.

Some tracks like BlackHawk Farms even host thier own track days, so you should check each tracks calender.

FYI -
Trackaddix & Sportbike track time are now one in the same as the have joined together.

Trackaddix will host the trackdays at:
Brainerd, Gateway, Iowa speedway, Mid America Motorplex, Hallett & Motorsport Park Hastings

Sportbike Track Time will host the trackdays at the rest. (blackhawk, barber, etc...)

Thanks guys......really a lot of help. I googled track days in the midwest or Illinois 100 times and never found anything like this.

I like the different options and the prices are not that bad at all.

I read at a lot of places that the tire requirements are 75% of tread remaining. Are all tracks very strict on that rule or as long as your not bald, you can ride. Because I just bought Dunlop Qualifers last August and have about 700 miles on them. Does this mean I need new tires if I want to go to a track day?

Most are NOT real strict on the amountof tread left, but are more concerened with the condition of the tire. like if it's really squared off in the middle or ripped to shreads on the edges, they may strongly point you towrds the track side tire vendor.

I really couldn't say anything about your tires without seeing them (but they didn't get the nick-name Dun-SLOPS for no reason.. :D.. JK). But I'd say look at them closely, if they are in question you're probably better off safe than sorry. And I'd recommed getting them changed at the trackside vendor and they may be $10-$15 more for the tires, but you won't get charged for mounting & balancing and your pressures will most likely be set-up for you.

Some track day providers have a tech in before you can go on the track. Track Addix does not have this, they go on the honor system, so look your bike over good yourself and ask yourself if you feel comfortable pushing at probably 80% of your skills with the equipment you currently have. I have run 208ZR's for 3 track days and some street riding and they showed wear but did not go off until the end of the last track day. It is up to you. $250 for new tires is cheaper than new plastic or worse. That is just my opinion.

lots of dates at RA in may/june/july. BHF throughout the year.

It seems to alwaysrain at Autobahn, and its like ice in some placeswhen its wet. I like the facility, and the layout (north, south or full), but the track surface kinda sucks...braking ripples in the pavement, asphalt sealer in the corners...reminds me of BHF before it was repaved.

I hope to get to get to Putnam this year too....but have already booked myself a lot of dates at RA and BHF.

Visionsports has a lotof weekday rides at BHF for $165.

Leon, that runs PTT has occasionally pulled this 4 group thing...effectively cutting 1/4 of your track time....otherwise is afinegroup and good price.

The trackaddix group I've not rode with. But the rules they post are strictest I've seen outside racing....I'd have to get a new helmetaccordingto their rules.

Yeah its too bad Autobahn has such a crappy surface, I hear they may repave it this year. Its so darn close for people in the Chicago area.

Huh.... Trackaddix has the least strict rules of any track day group I've ever ridden with... Both NESBA & STT are way more strict.

I think Autobahn sucks... the track surface is bad, the pit area is terrible, they treat motorcyclists like crap, etc... They either need to run like a country club for rich exotic car owners or a race track, becuase what they are doing now isn't working...

I would have to agree. Track Addix has the least strict rules I've ever seen. Short of just showing up in jeans and a helmet, it's pretty basic. They JUST implimented the full suit rule, most likely because people have been breaking the rules on the honor system. No replacing the anti freeze as MOST do, which is good when you just take your street bike down for a day a year, no safety wiring, just tape up the bike and put on some good gear. Seems pretty laid back to me.

www.cycleoptions.com (http://www.cycleoptions.com) is pretty laid back too, and their rates are lower than some also. They only run at Putnam Park in Indiana and it is only two weekends out of the year. They usually run a weekend in April and one in September.

My bad...it was motorcycleaddicts.org that I read the rules on....

This was the helmet rule. While I know the organizing bodies continue to revise helmet standards, I am on the side of the debate that the new helmets are too hard. I don't spend $500 on a helmet so having to get a new one is not a big deal.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Due to popular demand, any helmet that meets all of the basic requirements (age, condition etc.) and is certified by Snell, or meets the ECE 22.05 standards (with current BSI or equivalent sticker) will be allowed for use at this event.

A. Full Face Snell/ECE 22.05 approved helmet no older than 5 years with good shield in excellent (non crashed) condition. NOTE: This means any major scratch indicative of helmet to asphalt contact will render that helmet useless for this event. All helmets will be thoroughly inspected for qualifying certification, “Born on” date and condition.
>>>>>>>>>>>

In addition, higher levels had to take off side stands, passenger pegsand plates.

Yup........now THAT is getting a bit carried away for just a track day.
