I'm interested in this as well. I've seen many posts on the topic, but they all seem to be bits and pieces. I have a 99, and there seems to be a bit more involved to do these...

Someone might know which wheel (from what year F4..or was it F4i), and to machine .100 off of the rotor mounting surface, but what about the spacers? AND, if I have to use a F4 or F4i wheel, what rears fit so that I can keep the wheels matching (three spoke versus the six)?

Also, what size tires are used, and how is the front end adjusted to compensate for the difference in the wheel/tire diameter?

A mod should sticky this, and the members should add facts as they are discovered/verified.

can someone tell this obsession with having a 17" front wheel? is it because the bike mags were banging on about it for years,i had a 98 blade rrw sold it and bought a 600rr which on the road was TORTURE if u weren`t climbing all over the bike,i persevered for 15 months then sold it and got a 98 blade again welcome home baby, the handling is not much different and on the road the blade is a far better bike so why change the wheel.with the profile of the tyres it steers like a 17" anyway

Its most likely because of the better tire choice when you have 17" rim... However, I'm quite happy with my Michelin Pilot Sport 16" tire, so...

Bottom line is "DOn't bother unless you want to mount race tires and do trackdays"!!!!!!!! That's all.
The bike handles better on the street with the 16"
If you still want to mount a 17 then you will have to make you own spacers. I had to make both sides 2mm longer. That is because I have a 99. If you have a 95-97 then it might just bolt up. For the left side spacer, I bought the right side spacer which is longer and sanded(beltsander) it down to the size I needed. As for the right one, I bought the spacer that is in the wheel between the bearings and cut and sanded it to the size I needed.
Bottom line, you will have to do some measuring.

BTW those pictures are of the same bike, I just painted it.

Your bike looks sweet Outrider. I'm happy with the 16" tire on the front of my 900RR. I have the Metzler M1's on the bike and I couldn't be happier with them.

It's a 929 tail. I cut out some holes and put in grey screens.

How hard was the 929 tail to mount up? That does look sweet.
