View Full Version : Dam Stop Lights Dont See Me, dont laugh
james007torres24 10-29-2006, 10:46 PM so yea u know the little sensor on stoplight wher they can tell if ther is a car stoped and how many cars ther is so the light can turn green. well i have no idea but it DOES NOT SEE ME. so i am standing ther for a wile. with no cars going in any direction. so i have to wait till another car comes or i turn left to go. oh and i want to turn left it the same thing. i have waited for like 3 mins. it is pritty dam GAY. stupid ass lights. another dam thing i have to worry about. its in the moring when i get off work like at 7 am. anyone else have this problem??? what can i do about it??? its go gay.
knightslugger 10-29-2006, 10:51 PM they make special magnets just for this type of problem. It generates a magnetic field equal to a large truck. All you do is buy one and mount it under your bike. problem solved.
Running it is not an answer, but a lot of people do it. truth is, most of them don't understand how the system works.
mdfirefighter 10-29-2006, 11:50 PM Yeah, I thought a sponsor here sold those. Which one was it, I was planning on getting one but can't remember?

*EDIT* Found um... not from a sponsor, but oh well.
Green Light Trigger (http://www.greenlightstuff.com/trigger.html)
Red Light Changer (http://www.bikerhiway.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=9&products_id=2)
Junior 10-30-2006, 12:37 AM do those things acctually work?
mdfirefighter 10-30-2006, 12:44 AM Couldn't hurt. The main reason the sensors don't see bikes is because of the small magnetic field. I'm going to try one, can only help.

james007torres24 10-30-2006, 01:42 AM K thanks i just bought one on ebay(i dont trust just any site). it sould be here soon becouse it shippes from the same zip code. it says it works. i post up and tell ya if it does work.
fishnride 10-30-2006, 12:35 PM Put your sidestand down - works for me.
Either that or move forward and motion the car behind you to move over the sensor.

Tahoe SC 10-30-2006, 01:16 PM just run it if it's safe mang...
stop lights not seeing you isn't gay...
riding two up naked with another guy is gay.
trixtrem 10-30-2006, 04:02 PM another thing i found that works, is turning off the bike , then restarting it, the starter motor generates a magnetic field when turning over, this works for me....good luck
peace
We must be lo'tech here in Indiana because I simply run over the weight sensors....

Those are not weight sensors. They are metal detectors.
Pugetpower 10-31-2006, 01:31 PM In a lot of cities you can go thru a red if the light has cycled a few times and no ones coming.
Usually you have to drive right on top of the loop sensor saw cut (look for black sealant). Although, I notice
this has no affect on a few of the lights in my area.
I have heard of people using magnets from old hard drives.
I like "trextreme"'s idea of starting the bike over the sensor...have to try that.
cjp48 10-31-2006, 01:38 PM Stopping and starting the bike always works for me. A friend has a 50 cc moped with severe problems at
lights like this, and restarting the bike works for her too.
The magnets should work, but no experiences with them.
slipper 10-31-2006, 01:58 PM ive never had any problems with stop lights. i make sure my engine is directly over the stoplight sensors.
Leveltwo 11-02-2006, 12:56 PM i run them, damn lights...
holycrapitshassell 11-02-2006, 01:17 PM even better, one time i was stopped at a light, waited for a couple cycles, since there was traffic, and finally i see a car coming behind me, thank god! well this ass stops at least 100' behind me, way before the last sensor, and 2 cycles later, she starts honking at me like i broke the light, lol. i put the bike on the sidestand, took off my helmet, and gave her a lesson on how these lights work. lol i cant blame her for not knowing, but geeze, you dont need to give me that much space at a stoplight, lol.
2003F4iDude 11-04-2006, 10:21 PM GREEN LIGHT TIRGGER WAS A WASTE OF MONEY! i have 2 on my bike and they dont work i put a 6 in speaker magnet on the botom of my lower ferring with the two green light triggers and it works some times if you know where the sensor is (usually top left or top right of box area on the asphalt) but i took that crap off and now i just run it or turn right if no cars are around and make a u-turn.
Sproutf3 01-24-2007, 05:13 PM I always park at an angle / across the center of the lane never have a problem, lights switch for me on the first cycle
NOchknstrips 01-25-2007, 01:35 AM I was taught if you have room and its safe when you come up to a red light you make a couple of slow swerves to increase your area. Most of my roads have sensors for bicycles so I have no problem with it but its a thought.
13brsxsrr 01-25-2007, 04:02 AM No cop, no stop.
JEREMYS06600RR 01-26-2007, 03:03 AM I WATCHED A HOW TO VIDEO AND THEY WORKED IN DEMO ON VIDEO PRETTY WELL
Stephens 01-27-2007, 12:39 AM Put down your kickstand, get off the bike and press the walk button on the light. Its just as fast and still legal.
Blue Fox 01-27-2007, 12:54 AM You could always get off and jump up and down like a derranged howling monkey......that always looks good from the car's point of view.
The best is when a car doesn't pull up behind you close enough, so you turn around and wave your arm for them to come closer. Then the person backs up even further. LOL. That's happened a couple of times.
D2VW14_20 01-27-2007, 02:05 AM Just chinese fire drill on your bike, your bound to hit a sensor doing that

all8280bcc 01-29-2007, 01:18 PM Just run the light
FFCBRf4i 01-30-2007, 09:03 AM Nobody has update on whether the light changers work or not!
I'm thinking of ebaying for one of those if they work. I hate waiting for those damn lights. I feel like a friggin idiot!
cwmc29 01-30-2007, 08:35 PM In Ontario, Canada if you get caught running the light it is $110 and 3 points against your licence. I would only recomend doing it if it is safe to do so and you have been sitting for a while.
