Recently I drove my bike (03 cbr600rr) after having it stored for 1month. I flicked the high beam and it went on. I flicked it off, and the high beam remained on. Though the blue indicator lamp went off. I unpluged the high beam harness and reconnected it. I turned the bike on again and the high beam was off. As soon as I turned the high beam back on, it stayed on again.

Whats the diagnosis? faulty switch or is it relay? perhaps something worse? Thank you

What modifications have you made to your bike and were they done by a professional tech or at least someone who knows what they're doing? If no mods have been made, I'd say from the information received and without looking at it personally that the switch is probably bad. You might try taking it apart and making sure all the contacts are still soldered together correctly and that no wires are pinched together.

I bought a used switch of ebay, and replaced the original one myself. The original had a broken knob or nipple which made it rotate on the bar. The new switch had work fine until recently. The bike itself has a rebuilt title, but I've not noticed any problems. The only modifications if you can call it that, was the replacement of the headlight bulbs to french yellow. Its too hot outside to start taking the fairings out to investigate the wiring, so I am going to open up the switch and see. Thanks.

Do you guys ride with your high beams on all the time? I finally got yelled at by some dude in a Miata yesterday saying, "dim your lights!!!"

No. The CBR 1000's low beam works just fine with that line beam system. I use it just as I would if I were in a car: low beams when traffic is visible, high beams when I'm on open road. I know that cagers are typically assholes, but have some respect. Just because motorcycles typically have lower visibility than cars at night, doesn't mean we should blind all other drivers, possibly causing an accident.
