rrasco 08-01-2006, 11:38 PM HOLY *!&$^%& *$&%! bike didnt even swerve or anything, just kept going on straight, crazy ass s%&^! im in disbelief!
N8 Dawg 08-01-2006, 11:48 PM WOW, now that deer did not live! dude just kept driving like nothing happened.......
HondaKidF1 08-02-2006, 12:28 AM Wow, that is intense... I can't imagine not knowing that it happened. I am always scared of the deers around here.
CBRchica 08-02-2006, 12:53 AM yea, i've seen that before, sick stuff. doesn't seem to bother the rider at all!
e3gordon 08-02-2006, 12:58 AM Damn. it broke right into steaks and chops! delicious
CBRCorey 08-02-2006, 01:01 AM If you watch the second vid it looks like the deer didn't got cut in two. The deer went one way and bike parts went the other way.

I was just going to say that. The slow mo in the 2nd video makes it look like the deer stayed in one piece, spun like crazy, and it was the bike that blew apart.

i dunno, pretty sure it was a leg that came spinning over to the right
snowboarding82 08-02-2006, 11:28 AM Did anyone read the credits? Says no animals were harmed during the editting of this film and the video was performed by professional drivers on a closed course. Think that means it was all fake?
Mike
gtjimm 08-02-2006, 12:50 PM Nah, it's real, although at first I though the dear looked to fake, but it seems like the dear just stayed intact and was thrown to the side of the road. The key is that the film says no dear were harmed during the 'editting' of this film. Meaning they didn't kill any additional dear after the first one, haha. Good thing it was a smaller dear, I still can't believe how composed he was right after hitting it.
DThompson 08-02-2006, 01:20 PM They said "During the editing of this film" because normally they say, "During the making" and because he hit the deer, that wouldnt be true. And yes I agree, the deer did not get cut in half. He hits it at the lower part of its kneck and I waited to see if atleast the head was cut off but you can see it still intact with the body. It was just a bunch of broken fairings flying all over the road. You can see a full Left side fairing on the ground if you watch for it at the left.
pitsvtec 08-02-2006, 01:22 PM I think the deer was plastic.
DThompson 08-02-2006, 01:24 PM ORIGINAL: pitsvtec
The deer was plastic.
What??? How do you get that?
You can plain as day see the deer RUNNING across the street.

The video is not clear and people who usually hit deer don't end up driving his/her bike afterwards. The deer didn't even move or go into shock from the hit. Not even one movement from the animal....DEER can demolish cars for heavens sakes! The front of the bike shatters and the driver is able to drive off?... Maybe this was just a freak occurrence where that did happen, but it's not credible in my opinion.
I've seen another video of a bike (I think an FJR) hitting a deer and also staying upright.
It is possible - the bike wants to stay upright... he kept the same line through the whole thing. It sure would wobble but I think it is possible. If you think about it the weight that hit the bike is alot like the weight of the bike landing on the front end when you land a wheelie hard. It's the crash afterwards that often wrecks the bike...
pitsvtec 08-02-2006, 02:11 PM I don't know....but if that is the case, that kid sure did get lucky.
DThompson 08-02-2006, 02:16 PM I have seen another one also that was a Katana and the bike stayed up right and the guy was doin 70. If the deer doesnt hit you in a way to turn the wheel or knock you sideways than if your strong enough, you will stay up. The deer is running. Look at the slowmo in the second video, you can see it running. When a deer gets hit, causing it to spin, it does freeze up and Im sure it knocked it out as well. I live in Illinois and we have a sh*tload of deer around here. How many deer do you have in New Jersey?
ChrisMcD 08-02-2006, 03:30 PM It looks legit to me....but I completely understand where Pits is coming from. You would think that would take you out completely!! Probably the only reason he is smiling when picking up the pieces, because he didnt go down!! lol [8D]
2000cbrf4 08-02-2006, 08:36 PM DThompson:
You did see a Katana video. More than likely mine. It was all over on Katriders then I think a few members posted links elsewhere. I put it on putfile and I will find it on disk and post it here. It was my 97 600 Kat. That is the very reason I have my new (To me) CBR. I hit the deer at 72 mph on interstate 77 at mineral wells in WV.
snowboarding82 08-03-2006, 02:18 PM ITS DEER NOT DEAR DAMNIT!
Ok sorry I'm done. =P

We have so many deer that we have set times the hunters can go into the woods and eliminate some. I don't agree with hunting, but there's nothing I can do about it. This may be a little excessive but I would say that there's usually one dead deer for every mile on the highways.

Maybe it's just me, but the deer looks like it's just sliding out, not toppling over as one would assume. I would think the deers' legs would at least be flopping around.
NOchknstrips 08-04-2006, 03:54 AM Great vid..although I think he got lucky because he hit the front part of the deer. Which is the smallest. Had it been a diret hit to the side it may have been diff.
But kudos to him for just blasting throught it. I think thats what saved him. If he had swerved or tapped the brakes it would have been worse.

HAHA, thats called seasons. That is across the country, not just in NJ
dkmode7200 08-05-2006, 05:43 AM i guess the deer wanted to know what all that noise was. lucky it wasn't no 10 pt.
Armstrong 08-05-2006, 07:49 PM Whatever, I would have made a jacket rack out of that SOB.:D
N8 Dawg 08-06-2006, 03:13 AM It looked fake At first, but when i watched it again you could see the deer actually running....
KidCr3nshaw 11-14-2006, 01:46 AM It's clearly a live deer that got splattered - I'm actually surprised it's being questioned so much... BUT it is the internet so you all are forgiven.
Nice no-panic on the riders part. Also, Katana-Dude, I've seen your video, glad you're okay. I live in an area full of deer as well and I've fit a deer whistle on my bike - put it on the back of your front fender and you can't even see it - it just might save your life... or your bike.
As I have hit a deer on my F2 last summer. I can say that it is possible to hit a deer coming out of a curve exactly like that at 55mph and still be able to continue following through.
