well it happened me and the bike took a spill at about 30-40 mph, i had my brand new helmet on only wore it about 3 times, my honda gloves, and joe rocket jacket, and im pretty much ok few bruises and my left hand could be broke prolly gonna go to hospital 2maro. well heres how it happened i was cruisin through a little town with a lot of stop lights where speed limit is 45 and i was comin up on a green light and then before i had much time to react(everything happened so fast) i realized the lane i was in the cars were stopped so i get on the brakes back one is locked up and front is enough not to flip me over but i was gonna hit this car so i swerved to the left to try and get in the left turn lane but app. i got on the front brakes a lil harder than meant and flipped me on my left side then bike flipped over on right side and me and the bike skidded next to each other for about 30 ft after i realized what happened and a thousand ppl asked if i was ok i got the bike to the side of the road and assesed what just happened all my fairing is trashed i mean everything, both seats got pretty well ripped off bike, 3 of 4 pegs were gone, back brake lever broke off, broke windscreen, destroyed my front end, ripped both mirrors off bent handle bars down, bent forks and who knows what else i bet my bike gets totalled out. my helmet is also trashed had that thing for 3 damn days with new face shield ordered and f'd it up but hey it did what its supposed to. well im alright for the most part. at that speed my bike got so messed up id hate to see what happens at say 60 or 70. But i almost didnt wear my gear becasue of how hot it is here but decided to and im glad i did. well thought id share with u guys. o btw couldnt get any pics they already towed it to the honda dealer to asses the damage.

Not to be critical, but it sounds like you were letting your mind wander and were not paying attention. You said that all of the sidden you noticed that your lane had stopped. That says to me that you were being careless and not paying attention and it cost you your bike.
You gotta be aware man. It sucks that you crashed, but if you had been watching the road and scanning ahead and watching not the car in front of you, but a few cars up, you would not have totaled your bike.
Lesson learned.

Damn, sorry to hear but glad the gear kept you in good condition aside from the wrist. Lucky you weren't going any faster or it would have been worse yet. Good luck with the new ride and hopefully you are back in action soon.

Thats just it i was watchin the other cars and they were all movin except for this one some old ppl who werent payin attention that the light was green and all the cars were movin i pay more attention than u would no while riding i am very cautious all the time but im only human and accidents happen no matter how careful u are. some of the witnesses that seen it said there wasnt anything i could of done and it wasnt my fault at all, thats how i found out that was the only car stopped because i seen everyone else goin.

man some of the ppl here make me want to leave this forum, i came here to tell u guys what has happened and some ppl say o u must not have been payin attention if u were u wouldnt have wrecked but w/e i guess im just not a perfect rider, theres those u have went down and those who will its just a matter of time and it was my time , but whats done is done no lookin back and sayin what if that **** does no good but make u regret. well thx to most who said glad ur ok and sry about the bike ur the ppl i wanted to tell.

As long as you learn from it, it's all good. I know I have lost count of how many wrecks I would have had if I hadn't been paying attention. Sometimes it has nothing to do with your actions, but if you aren't looking and you get killed what good does that do you?
"I wasn't paying attention", or "I never saw ___" are the most common phrases uttered at fatal accidents.[:o]

Sk8tr,
I don't think anyone is really down on you, but as I read more posts, it's more like a parental tone in these threads. Everyone is genuinely concerned when a fellow rider goes down, and it is just a reminder..."hey, keep your eyes peeled". Don't feel attacked, it's more like CONSTRUCTIVE criticism. There is another poor fellow who lost his friend in a wreck recently. Feel blessed it is not your friend saying he lost his good buddy. It's all possitive, my friend. Glad you're okay, for sure!

i'm glad you're okay. you're very lucky, a friend of mine went down on one of my rides at about 45 mph, he low sided and then flipped over and when we got to him we didn't think he was going to make it, but thankfully he's now alright, w/o his gear he wouldn't have made it. his best friend got into an accident a couple weeks ago at the same (45 mph) speed around a turn and was new at riding and didn't lean enough and went head on into a car...his helmet was to big and ripped right off his head and he did not make it. be thankful you were wearing your gear!! i used to ride w/o gear, put a foot peg through my knee once. after all i've seen i wear all my gear even if it's 110 degrees, if it's to hot to wear your gear, it's to hot to ride!! you never leave the house saying, well i better wear my gear today cuz i'm gonna crash.
you can take your helmet to the manufacurer an they'll look at it and tell you if it's still usable or if you need a new one.
