i have had my cbr f4i since may...this is my first sportbike/4 cylinder. Any time I let the bike sit for more than 3-5 days it wont start off of the battery. I have to jump it and it takes over ten minutes to finally get it to kick. any suggestions, I keep it garaged i know it is not the cold weather.

How old is the battery?
Have you checked to make sure both the regulator rectifier and the stator are working properly?
What is the static voltage on your battery after a full charge?
Baldman - I'm going to guess that he doesn't know.
Buy a new battery. Problem solved. [sm=trust_me.gif]

I agree, also. Motorcycle batteries are notoriously short lived. If a new battery doesn't correct problem then maybe you have a VFR type issue where the bike pulls current while off. Try a Yusa and let us know.

The 'shotgun approach' is an expensive option. If you check the things I mentioned, you could save yourself $90 possibly...or spend that $90 on the known fix.

thanks for replying...it is not a battery problem the power is there and the starter is turning but the engine only sputters for a sec then cuts off. sorry for the confusion

I agree with your statement. And as it turns out, the problem isn't really what was described initially. [sm=smiley24.gif]

Have you checked your plug condition/gap, or lean/rich condition?
Have you pulled each plug wire off individually to ensure all cylinders are firing?
When is the last time you cleaned the carbs?

Those last 3 options are what to start with. More then likely if you tried starting it when it wouldn't fire, you fouled out the plugs. Check the basics and let us know from there.
