Ok, I have lost my mind.

And by the way I am new to this forum, so let me apologize in advance for stupid questions as I am a newbie to the CBR world!

Anyway, I am the proud new owner of a 600 F4.

The funny thing is, the VIN and Frame Stamp state a 2001 (03/01) production year...

The bike has a full analog dash cluster and a solid seat which is inherit to the 2000.

Confused. I have called the local Honda dealer and they are as confused as I am so i thought that I would post it to you professionals to hack out.

The bike is flawless, and I actually prefer the Analog Dash over the digital, and the one piece seat, it is just weird is all.

On another note, the bike will jump slightly and kill itself upon placing her into first gear... Gut feeling is a clutch adjust, any advice?

Thanks all, this site is great!

Have a great day!

So does this mean you can't even ride because it dies everytime you put it in gear? Is your kickstand down?

Well,

You know I didn't even think about that, it seems that it may have been....

I take it that this will happen with the 'stand down?

Thanks!

Actually yea it will happen, there is a sensor up there. I've done it a few times myself.

As for the VIN being from 3/01, they more than likely already stopped production on the '00 year bikes by then, if not already in the fall of '00. Try calling Honda customer service, I don't have the number handy, but I'm sure it's on their website somewhere. Maybe they can shed some light on the subject.

Thanks, I'll give that a try! The production date is 03/2001 so I have no idea...

I'll let you know what I find out.

I did check the neck and the VIN's match.

Chat soon!

Please note,

This bike has been stolen and the local authorities are now in route to confinscate this motorized vehicle. If you resist you will be put down like a deer with a broken leg. Please do you attempt to evade the authorities on your stolen vehicle, for it will only make for a 6 O'Clock news story of how a biker attempts and fails. Although I might be kidding, your story is perplexing and I would appreciate it if you would keep me up to date as to the progress of this predicament. I am not a professional linguist or writer, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night...

DDVS NOT FUNNY...

But still haha!

Well. The person at Honda Customer Service was about as much help as a box of hammers.

So the mystery ensues. I spoke with Mr. Dave at the local honda shop and he says that he sees this once in a bit, the only real diff is the guage cluster and the seat, AND you would think that the Analog guage is cheaper but THAT IS WRONG.

Ouch.

Not that i need one but still...

Here is a shot by the way:

Is the bike fuel injected? With the analog guages, I'd guess no. Did you say whether you bought it new or not. It could have been crashed and had the frame replaced with the 01 frame. Sounds kind of strange to me?

could it be possible that some time in the bikes life the person had an accident and tryed to or rather did use an f4i frame on an f4?

I have no idea at this point...

It is injected by the way.

Like i said the VIN and title are clean, so go figure.

Seems like a weird thing, if the frame was trashed then the cosmetics would be too, it's a riddle.

Thats strange, Its probably someone that had an F4i and liked the F4 looks better so they just custom fitted them to it. By the way i love that paint color.

Thanks, it's Velocity Red Mica from the '06 RX-8.

The paint is fresh, before I had it, there was this HORRILBE green/yello/white with flames that looked like they were done on an etch-a-sketch.

Good improvement, I wish it stood out on the road a bit more, but I do like the color.

Thanks again!

my 2001 F4i
was produced in late 2000
so I think you've got a new frame or the guy just replaced the speedo to an analog
can we see pics

sounds like an f4i chassis with an f4 bodywork set, this is usually done to save cost on a rebuild
