does anybody know how tight a chain should be for a 2001cbr600F4I?

On the chain guard it will say how loose it should be. give it some room for flex because when you set on it, the chain will tighten a little bit and especially when you crank that throttle. Make sure you dont hear any rough chain noises while you ride or it may be to tight, Kinda like a binding noise. The actual measurement is 1-1/4" of freeplay in the chain.

yep think its 1 1/4 " to 1 1/2" with no weight on it. should say in your manual if you have one too.

i just got my bike and it didnt come witha chain guard or a manual so im figuring alot on here and on the net

1 1/4' is correct, remember when u tighted your chain, your chain tightens a bit when you tighted your axle nut so leave plenty of free play for that and also when you sit on it, the heavyer you are the more freeplay you want to leave, tight chains will damage your chain, and too lose will eat your sprockets
