Default Honda and odomeeter fraud!?

I'm a master automotive tech i've worked for honda porsche and now lexus. Throughout all my years experience with cars, i know that it is illegal to do something to your vehicle so that it does not put on miles or shows incorrect speed.

So in my opinion having an incorrectly calibrated speedometer (from factory), means that i'm going to put on more miles than i'm actually going. decreasing my resale value when i want to sell it or trade it in years later. In my book that's fraud. Has anyone spoke to honda about it? If i'm on my bike it's my life on the line....i want to know my true speed, not be lied to.

It's not just Honda -- any bike I've ever owned has read "happy" when stock.

It's the law, dude. Every bike comes with a speedo that reads higher than your actual speed. The government dictates that a speedo cannot read less than your actual speed, so they purposely set them so you won't be going faster than what the reading is.

The speedometer is off, however the odometer is accurate.

I disagree, my speedo and odo were out as verified by my Garmin Streetpilot 2610, even before I changed sprockets. Fitted a SpeedoHealer to rectify.

Sure jaxx1671 will haul the camera out this weekend. It is very basic, I purchased the Garmin motorcycle mount for my unit, connected the mount with 2 bolts through the plastic cover that goes over the HESD unit and glued 2 nuts to the underside of this cover for the bolts to screw into. The wiring runs from the mount under the gas tank to the battery. Will pm the pics this weekend
