My buddy bought honda chain lube w/graphite for his R6. Anybody else use this? it shot all over the place, and he sprayed it before work, so the bike sat for like 8 hours. Went riding and it splashed all over his rims, undertail, etc... He sprayed it right, he's not stupid. I use chain wax and I've never had this problem.

Anybody else use the honda stuff?? What do you do? I suggested he spray it then dab it with a towel. He said screw it, he's going back to chain wax.

I use chain lube (even used the Honda brand) and don't have that problem. You spray it AFTER a ride, let it sit for 10 minutes, then you wipe it off as much as you can. You'll see a little drop of lube here and there sometimes but nothing bad.

I just had my first service on my 1000RR. Dealership used wax and now it's all over the place. Not a big fan of wax. Stick with lube and make sure to wipe off the excess.

the trick is to wipe off the excess. i use belray wax...and i cake it on...not too much fling...and if i wipe off excess, no fling...
but with honda lube, if you don't wipe it after...GETS EVERYWHERE!

Just a note: Read on another forum about "DuPont Teflon Chain Lube"...
apparently its pretty awesome.
Cleans AND lubes your chain.

Make sure you ride around a bit before applying the lube. I have the Honda lube and it doesn't splatter too much at all.

I did the same thing when I got my bike a couple months ago.....I sprayed on the Honda lube & didn't wipe it off.

Took it out the next day and had a big mess on my bike & even some lube on my shoe......learned the hard way.

I got a can of the chain wax that I might try next, but I didn't know that you're supposed to wipe off the excess lube either
