Here's some pics of my latest paint job. All flat black, with all gloss black powdercoating. I'm debating on keeping it or goin with a different color---what'd y'all think?

Yeah, i'd keep the flat black. It makes it unique plus it looks badass. You did a good thing. Plus i bet it added at least 3-4 horsepower! ( with the way the light reacts with it and the weight taken off by all that clearcoat)

I only like gloss paint, IMHO it looks way better when you get a nice coat of wax on there and she just shines in the sun

I think it looks pretty good, but I prefer gloss myself. I was at a dealer today and saw a new ZX-6R that was flat metallic blue. It seems like a lot of manufacturer's are going 50/50 or all flat as an option on some of their bikes.

Black is the only color I like the flat black in... looks good. One of the guys I ride with has the flat blue ZX6... it's ok, but needs to be high gloss. But then again... so much easier to take care of. Scratches don't show up as easy.

it wont reflect laser as well... (better chance of seeing the cop before he gets you) but it looks like it needs another color or pin striping or somthing to mix it up a bit.

Not trying to burst your bubble but it does reflect the laser. They did it on myth busters and there really isn't anything that you can do to block the laser or radar without a jammer or something similar.

So far I like it. I give it an A+

Thanks for all the feedback. I'll get some close-ups as soon as i can.

Can't make up my mind. It's a PITA to keep clean, mainly because it's a flat clearcoat and EVERYTHING shows up lol.

do you really think mythbusters would have said somthing worked even if they found somthing? anyway checkout guysoflidar.com ...radar it doesn't matter what you do. but with laser the more reflective your car/bike is the farther away the cop can pick up your speed.

I'm not saying that you are wrong, but bikes are hard to pick up anyways since they are such a small target compared to a car. The flat black might help, but I personally don't think it would make that much of a difference but I don't really know. If I find a cop thats cool and would be willing to give it a try I'll let you know what I find out.

Sorry for getting off topic, the bike looks really good, I would leave it it has a nice stealthy look but I would get a helmet to match the bike like an Icon mainframe in the flat black that would look really good IMO.

I think it's hot. Do some red scalloping and you will have a bad ride.

Yeah, i think the plan is to have it sprayed with flat black one more time, then a set of chrome red scallop decals for either side, then the whole thing shot with clear coat to seal the decals in. Hopefully i can get it done soon, i'll let ya know.

Off topic continues. I have worked quite many years with Kustom Signals Falcon handheld radars, and to my experience it's pretty much same what colour the bike is. It's all about the shape, if you want to be "radar-invisible" you should build a bike with absolutely no round shapes, only flat surfaces, just look at stealth air planes (Hmm, weren't the bikes like this box-shape in good old 80's? :D). It's true that flat black reflects least laser or radar beams compared to other colours, but still it wont help if your bike has round surfaces. When I'm on the street measuring traffic speed with radar, it's possible to get the speed of even a bicycle rider. Motorbikes are just as easy to measure as cars. Other solution is to drive so friggin fast that police doesn't have time to point his radar on you. ;) Hope this helped.

On topic: I think your bike looks great! Every time I see a bike with this paint, I somehow start to think of those cool Mad Max movies. Like already mentioned, try to get your helmet to match bikes colour.

Hey my bike is flat black and staying that way. I just need a better coat than what I have, something a little more final. What did you use, what do you recomend?

yeah, i actually like it, otherwise i am normally a glossy person. the black looks alot nicer than i assumed. it kind of give it a gun metal stealth look, which comes off really badass, keep it that way.
