you often hear of car owners comparing different times it takes for a car to go from 0-60mph in..
I was just wondering does anyone know how long it will take the F4i to get from 0-60mph?

Probably something like 2 sec if that

Well, I read somewhere that the 2002 GSX-R 1000 did 0-60 in 2.8 sec. Using that for reference, I'd say somewhere around 3 sec.

If it is ridden well, about 3 seconds, especially with a regear. 0-60mph times are pretty close between 600's and 1000's due to the fact that you can only accelerate so hard on the 1000cc without the front end popping up.

what about 0-100mph?
And would there be much of a difference between a 600 and a 1000cc then?

Well, the 1000 is of course quicker... 60% more HP with the same size and weight... But if you look at the 1/4 mile times on the F4i and 1000RR, there is maybe a half second at most between them. What you will notice is that the 1000rr will cross the finish line at a much higher MPH... That tells me that the 1000rr is limited off the line due to the power and that it wants to wheelie, but once it is rolling at a good clip you can really lay the power down and it will rip past the 600.

the 0-60 has been recorded as 2.8 seconds

0-60 times are: FAST

All of these (600) sportbikes are fast & so comparable.....so does 0.1 or 0.002 seconds really matter???

Everytime I decide to gun it on my bike I always do so from 2nd gear cause I'm not sure of all that torque in first. So does that mean that if you full throttle in first on our f4i's the front wheel will still be stable? Other than redline coming up faster than @!$%

I dunno....if I gun it in first (wide open throttle all the way to redline), the front end feels light - it causes me to want to lean forward as far as I can. I don't know for sure if it get's a little air or not. I'm still afraid of it at wide open throttle and high rpms, plus, you really can't do it for long without hitting 100+, so who knows. I can tell you it's a pretty wild ride.

I bet. I can even feel that when I'm in 2nd as far as the front being "light". But that wild ride is the whole reason we all ride what we do!

I went to the sportrider.com and look at the times. I have an 01 and I was pretty impressed by the times. But I looked at the 06 F4i times and It was slower than mine in every category...why is that?

The front end gets a little light in 1st, but as long as you dont pull and lean back, the front wheel will stay planted.

I believe the 01s have a little more power than the 02+'s or something along those lines

I do kick it in first gear, but I try to be careful, in the mid rpms I can really tell my front becomes light, and in the high rpms it actually comes off the ground. But about that time is when I have to change gears then it pops up a little more when I change then goes back down

It takes me longer to put on my helmet that it does to hit 60 mph. lol

The problem with nailing it in first gear is that you are being hard on the tranny when you shift through neutral. Thats where most trans have trouble, from the 1-2 shift at high RPM.

^ never heard of that... how much damage does it do?

You can float the front without a problem... just relax your body and let the bike do its thing. I wouldn't wind out 2nd from a stop.

What the front end does depends on how you hit the throttle also. If you're in first gear doing a steady ~5k and hit it, the initial torque jolt will be more likely to make the front end come up than say feathering it out from a stop. When I launch in a drag race, very rarely will the front end come up, unless I let the clutch out too fast. So it depends what you're doing.

i have no problem keeping the front end down in first gear on my 600rr and i am geared down, it has around the same power as an f4i so you will be fine launching in first, just stay over the tank and if you do get off the ground ease up alittle.
