Question First CBR600RR. Easy Performance Upgrades??

I just bought my second motorcycle. A 2003 Honda CBR600RR. It has 17000 miles and is in great condition. It is completely stock though when it comes to performance upgrades. Just wondering what kind of fairly inexpensive (less than $400-$500) upgrades I can do to the bike to give it a little more power and make it a little faster so I can keep up with the newer 600's?? or beat them, haha!! Anyone have any good ideas or advise?

Thanks!!
C.Sullivan

sprockets don't give you any power.

what are the affects of the 520 conversion kit? I know faster acceleration! but what will it do to my top speed? Will I have a slower top speed?

your top speed will be lowered significantly (though you should never see it anyway....jk) and on the highway, you'll be running at about 8 or 9k rpm at 70mph. It's really not efficient unless you race a lot, or stunt. but yes, it will drop your top speed.

yeah changing your gearing will hurt your gas mileage and lower your top speed, but it improves your accelleration, and unless your on a very high speed track, your top speed isn't important

try a dyno jet programmer and anything to get more air in to your engine faster and get it out of your engine faster.. (exhaust and filter)

go to gearing commander.com that will tell you everything you need to know about rpms top speed and what not when doing the conversion. and you only raise rpms by maybe 500 to 600 not that bad. also topspeed drops from 176 to 150 or so
