I have had a good read of the How To but i keep getting confused as to which stick coils to use. Seeing as this is the "Alternative Parts" section I was hoping someone could post a new sticky (no pun intended) thread with specs and or part #s for the correct sticks and loom. It is really easy to get lost in the "how to" threads given there is hundreds of posts with various updates and edits. I am having trouble finding the correct coils downunder so it might be a buy and ship from US. I only want to do that once so I would like to be sure I am getting the right gear.

Hey Damo, did you find a set of coils? I think mine were from a 99 cbr900.


A list of used types would be helpful.

If the last 4 digits after 129700 are:

4840 they are CBR1000
3991 - 929
4510 - CBR600
4400 - GSX-R

Most of the guys used the CBR1000 Denso stick coils.

Buried deep in the original thread is my research.

I did the mod using the coils from an '04-07 CBR 1000. Results were immediate and a definite improvement. Still using the same set since then. Problem was, back then, it was becoming a popular swap and the 1k coils were getting scarce and expensive.

Research told me that CBR 600 coils were physically too short, but Suzuki used the same coils for the entire GSXR line and as some here can prove, are a suitable substitute for CBR1000 coils

Since Jarvid used the 929 coils, you get a better idea of what to look for.

 

I am unsure which ones I have for sure because of the scarcity of them in Aus, mine were sourced by a legend in the USA and sent to me.

 

If the legend was Sprock, odds on they were CBR1000 - I know mine were!!

I just managed to find 4 x 2011-15 CBR1000RR coils on eBay in the states for £28 plus £14 shipping to the UK and the loom for £9 with shipping at £6.

UK breakers wanted £30 for the loom and £60 plus for the coils, plus shipping!!
